In conjunction with Right to Know Day* on 28 September, the Centre for Independent Journalism (CIJ) calls upon Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to make serious efforts toward enacting a Freedom of Information (FOI) law in keeping with his government’s aim to eliminate corruption.

CGG calls for boosting of Selangor FOI bill

The Coalition of Good Governance (CGG) welcomes the Selangor State Government's reform initiative through the tabling of the Freedom of Information Enactment 2010, the first such legislation in Malaysia. This is indeed a step in the right direction towards giving the people of Selangor the right to access public information.

Civil society groups take Selangor MB to task on his commitment for FOI

Fifty-nine civil society groups today expressed surprise that the Selangor Mentri Besar appeared to be backtracking on his commitment to introduce a freedom of information law in the state. They call on the state government to set up a task force to review existing practices and the draft law for the state level.
