Free Media Movement condemns the killing of journalist Darmaratnam Sivaram and demands an immediate and impartial inquiry into his killing.


The body of journalist Darmaratnam Sivaram was found this morning, dumped in an abandoned paddy field in the Kolonnawa police division of Colombo district.

He was abducted last night (28.04.2005) while leaving a restaurant located on Galle Road, Bambalapitiya, Colombo.

He was a longstanding journalist on defense matters in Sri Lanka and later founded Tamil Net with other associates.

D. Sivaram (47) lived with his family in Ratmalana, a suburb in Colombo. He leaves behind his wife, two daughters and a son.
