Friday, 15 April 2005
It's the 'Freedom Idol' for blogs! Cast your vote for the blogs that defend FOE. Malaysia pun boleh! (Yes, there was a Malaysian picked!)

Blogs are becoming important sources of news for millions of Internet users. They are also alternative sources of comments, articles and opinions - a function that is especially crucial in countries with repressive regime and state-controlled media.

Support and promote blogs as the new media for free expression and information! Cast your vote for the best FOE blogs. Mooted by Reporters Without Borders (RSF), these awards pay tribute to bloggers who defend free expression, sometimes at personal costs and sacrifices.

Choose from among 60 blogs shortlisted by RSF. There are six categories: Africa and the Middle East, the Americas, Asia, Europe, Iran and International (see http://www.globenet.org/rsf/voteblog.php?lang=en).

Malaysian blog Screenshots is shortlisted too.

You can only vote for one blog per geographical category (The International category is of blogs that have a general interest in freedom of expression on the Internet).

Cast your vote here: www.internet.rsf.org before 1st June 2005.

Prize winners will be announced two weeks later.
