Police has obtained another remand order to detain Wong Chin Huat, spokeperson for poll reform coalition Bersih and chairman of Writers' Alliance for Media Independence (WAMI) for three days, for alleged offence under the Sedition Act. Early on, Wong was expected to be released on 6 May after the one day remand order expired. Wong is one of the speakers for CIJ's coming forum on 10 May on Media Under Najib: Hope or Disappointment. Other speakers are Zaharom Nain from the Science University of Malaysia (USM) and Tricia Yeoh, Special Assistant to Selangor Chief Minister. CIJ calls for Wong's immediate release and for the government to stop the misuse of the police force and judiciary!
