Article 19, an international advocacy group for freedom of expression and a partner of CIJ has recently highlighted 8 exemplary women journalists worldwide who push against the limited space for freedom of expression in their country.

Their profiles and experiences are featured in Article's 19's "Pioneering Women's Voices", a special report for the International Women's Day falls on 8 March this year. One of those featured is Malaysian journalist Jacqueline Ann Surin, assistant editor in The Sun daily.
