RSF has voiced dismay over the abrupt closure of television news station ETTV-S. The station was closed along with six others - mainly entertainment, commercial cable television stations - following a 31 July 2005 decision by the government's Satellite Broadcasting Business Review Committee not to renew their licences. They were given just two days to stop broadcasting.

Journalist Wu Shishen freed after more than 12 years in prison PDF Print E-mail

Reporters Without Borders today welcomed the early release of journalist Wu Shishen from Beijing's main prison, which took place some time in July as the Chinese justice ministry had said it would late last year. Arrested in October 1992, he had been serving a life sentence.
