"Live News: A survival guide for journalists" has been published in Chinese. The book covers what journalists need to 'be prepared', war zones, riots and civil disorder, and abductions and hostage-taking. It also deals with emergency medical aid, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Activist files complaint against broadcaster to challenge censorship law PDF Print E-mail

A Singaporean activist has filed a police complaint against national broadcaster MediaCorp for allegedly violating the country's Films Act by screening proruling party films.  Yap says the complaint was meant to expose a pro-ruling party bias in the legislation, which was the basis of a government ban on a documentary by independent filmmaker Martyn See on opposition leader Chee Soon Juan in March 2005.

China: Imprisoned Internet journalist on hunger strike PDF Print E-mail

The Committee to Protect Journalists is deeply concerned about the health of journalist Zhang Lin, who has been hospitalized since beginning a hunger strike last week to protest his imprisonment. He received a five year jail term for inciting subversion through a radio interview and six articles that criticized the Communist Party which he posted on overseas dissident news Web sites.
