The Centre for Independent Journalism (CIJ) and the Writers Alliance for Media Independence (WAMI) are concerned that several presenters of the state-owned Tamil language radio station, MinnalFm, have been taken off the air pending the outcome of an investigation into their alleged involvement in the Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) rally.

The Centre for Independent Journalism (CIJ) condemns the Prime Minister's warning to use the Internal Security Act (ISA) to prevent future public rallies, after the Sunday rally organized by Hindraf which drew a reported crowd of 30 000, and the BERSIH rally earlier this month.

Release Hindraf leaders, repeal the Sedition Act PDF Print E-mail

The Centre for Independent Journalism (CIJ) is deeply concerned about the arrest of three key figures of Hindu rights group, Hindraf under the Sedition Act for planning a rally on 25 Nov, in which 10 000 Indians are called to submit a memorandum to the British High Commission.
