RapidPenang is the bus service introduced by the Federal government to reverse the almost non-existent public transportation in Penang. This should be a good news for Penangites or perhaps everyone traveling in Penang, but what about long term solution to tackle the corrupt bus operators? What will happen to an earlier and more comprehensive plan to overhaul Penang's moribund transportation system, drawn up by the state with input from civil society groups? Civil society groups disagreed with government's approval of the the new Ethnic Relation module without calling for public participation in the drafting process. The module should be given another two months in order for the public to fill in the vacumm, the groups urged in their joint statement.
